I still have mixed feelings about Marty.

I will always respect what he did for the team.

But, I feel like his reason for leaving is contrived. He said it was for his family and kids. Ok, if that is really the reason, then I can understand that. But then he just plays another season or two and then retires. Why not just retire in Tampa and end your career where you made your name and fame? His time with the Rangers was underwhelming and he never seemed to have that spark he had in Tampa. It would have been different if he left, found more success, and had several more good seasons afterwards.

I don't know. It still feels like a betrayal of sorts. But I am over it mostly and wish him well now. I just wish this black mark or asterisk wasn't next to his name and legacy with the Lightning.

Are we giving Stevie Y. too much of a pass on this one? Was Steve a hardass and a tool towards Marty behind closed doors? I would like to know and wish I could have been a fly on the wall during that period.

Life isn't storybook and you don't always see eye to eye with your boss. Also, he just wasn't ready to retire. Im sure he wanted to make sure he def was done playing, mentally. I can't imagine that being an easy decision. But good for him, been an underdog is whole life I bet.

The point is moot really. Everybody knows it should have been Calgary's Cup. Blind Ref on a clear goal. Yes I'm butt hurt, because we got franked. Still feel that...

Yeah, that series wasn't perfect. They rarely are. Tampa has been franked a few times also. 2011 ECF against Boston comes to mind. Blatant incompetence by the refs.

Calgary will get there eventually. They are moving in the right direction. It's been a long time coming and when it finally comes, it will taste sweet. But I don't think it is happening this season. Somebody up there needs to grow a glorious Lanny McDonald mustache - that will make it happen sooner.

Yeah, I was hard on the guy at first....and for a while after. But the butthurt has healed and I am over it. I still regret how it went down, but I don't blame Marty personally for it.

Question for you guys...
From what you've read, seen, and or heard in pre season who will be your #1 in nets? How many games do you anticipate Vasilevsky getting?

Bishop will definitely be there starter and it will remain that way until (if) he is traded.

Vasi will surely get more starts this year as part of the grooming process to make him the eventual #1. I would wager that Vasi probably gets twice as many starts this year.

He wanted to be a Ranger, let the Rangers retire his jersey. That's crap. The captain of a playoff contending team demands a trade to a team lower in the standings, and now gets his number retired......[/img]

honestly would not be surprised to see a 50/50 split, 41 each. all depends who has the hot hand and runs with it, then when their streak is over I think they'll change goalies until his hot streak is over. my guess is that they ride the hot streak, whoever it may be.

its like when lindback and bishop were competing for the #1 job, but obviously this time both goalies are very capable of starting.

So....I guess someone has to admit that Conacher didn't cost the Lightning Kucherov.
